Program Description

In order to encourage more outstanding international students to pursue degree programs in Chongqing, Chongqing Municipal Government launches the Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship


Coverage

  • Master’s degree student: 30,000 RMB/academic year/person;
  • Doctoral degree student: 35,000 RMB/academic year/person.

The aforementioned scholarship will be awarded on a monthly basis in the form of a living stipend. Chongqing University additionally provides tuition waiver coverage, while other expenses, including but not limited to accommodation fees shall be borne by the scholarship recipients themselves.

The funding duration is aligned with the standard duration of the respective degree program.


application Materials:


Information Page of Ordinary Passport. The passport must remain valid until after September 2025. For applicants who are already in China, a photocopy of Visa or Residence Permit with entry customs stamps should be provided as well.


Notarized Highest Degree Certificate. Master's degree applicants shall submit Bachelor's graduation certificate and degree diploma. Doctoral degree applicants shall submit Master's graduation certificate and degree diploma. Prospective diploma recipients shall submit a pre-graduation certificate issued by the university, and bring the official degree diploma for registration if admitted, otherwise the admission qualification will be canceled.


Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards) . Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university's academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department.


Proof of language proficiency: Applicants for English-taught programs and whose native language is not English need to provide score report of English language proficiency test (a score above IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL Internet-based 80 or equivalent), or a certificate from former university proving that the previous degree is taught in English, or a certificate indicating the applicants have studied in an English-speaking country for more than one year;

Applicants for Chinese-taught programs need to provide score report of HSK level 5 ( ≥ 180) or other Chinese language proficiency proof.


Two academic recommendation letters in English or Chinese from professors or associate professors introducing the applicant's academic/research background, comprehensive abilities and evaluation of future growth etc. The referee's signature and contact information (academic title, email address or phone number) are necessary, and the date of issue should not be earlier than September, 2024.


Foreigner Physical Examination Form and Attachments within a valid period of six months. The form shall be filled by the physician in Chinese or English . Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months. Applicants in China can take the physical examination at the international travel health care center.


Non-criminal record report . Applicants shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.


Study plan or research proposal. No less than 1000 words, stating your basic personal information, hobbies and expertise, study motivation, past academic background and a study plan or research proposal in Chongqing University.


Financial statement or bank statement. The available balance should be no less than 40, 000RMB (The minimum amount of financial proof for full scholarship applicants may be appropriately lowered).


Curriculum vitae. The applicants shall submit curriculum vitae introducing your personal information, education background, work experience, research work, publications, honors, and other information, which could facilitate your application.


Study or Work certificate. For applicants who are currently studying or working in an institution, a Certificate of Enrollment or Employment issued by the institution is required.


Provisional Acceptance Letter from Supervisor of CQU ( if available, not compulsory).


Other supporting documents such as publications, awards, certificate of employment/internship, etc. (if available). For Arts programs, applicants must have related academic background and are required to submit the portfolio (such as paintings, story scripts, short movies, etc.).


Other supporting materials required by the specific program.


Note: 1) All the above documents should be Chinese or English version. If the original copy is in a different language, a notarized translated version in Chinese or English must be submitted together ; as to the certificate issued by the school, the name and contact information of the certifier shall be affixed as well as the official seal of the school.


Applicants do not need to send hard copies of the above documents, but shall bring the original copies when registration
